Note; The symbol of the GOP/Republican Party. Look closely at the stars, standing on point. That is a symbol of anarchy. I've observed their behavior very closely over the last 8 years and they are indeed a perfect example of that symbol.

BEWARE THE ANARCHIST!
The Republicans are indeed trying to kill health care reform. The worst part of it is that they have nothing to offer the American people as an alternative other than what we currently have, which is why there is the current effort to reform it in the first place! The idiots prefer that over open debate. Take on the merits of the plan and voice your objections and offer alternatives clearly. Do not attempt to spoon feed me any more of your bullshit, I am full. Recent polls show that American citizens want health care reform, NOW. Right now it's run by politicians and corporations that are rapidly becoming one in the same.
The best part of Single Payer health care is that it's an option. You don't have to enroll in it. You can keep your current coverage if you so choose. Critics say they don't want the government competing with private business. Well, I would tend to agree to a point. But we are not talking about the gov. going into business for itself and becoming the USA LLC or America Inc. Funny though, is how ignored the influence big business has over our government these days. Where's the outrage? I've been angry about that for quite a while now, but considered a socialist if I dared to speak out. How about Fascist, ever heard of that?
I don't necessarily want someone competing for my health. It sounds great and all, but current circumstances are the result of that way of thinking. I also have little trust in a company whose primary focus is the bottom line and not my health. To me, it is the height of immorality. I want the primary focus to be my well being. Too many times my insurance company got in between me and my choices for health care. I can't be the only one who feels this.
I could only imagine if Jesus had sent those he healed, a bill for his services.
Besides, should medical coverage only be based upon your employment? For one, the cost to private companies are horrendous. It was an anchor around GM's neck. Even right down to the small business owner who really can't afford a benefits package for employees.
Health care for profit is wrong and unmoral. In my eyes, not Christian behavior. Insurance companies pay mightily into campaigns to get votes to basically nullify yours and mine. I wonder who they could really help if they spent that money on their clients instead, leaving our democracy in place in the process? I remember who got elected on the drumbeat of morality and family values. Well folks, here's an opportunity to show your mettle. Alas, I've seen it too many times before. They couldn't lead, they refuse to follow so it's time they got the hell out of the way.
These folks led us into this disaster economy and opened ended wars. Why in the hell should we listen to them anymore?
So, call me socialist if you please. It's just another political boogeyman. I can spot many a socialist value that makes up our democracy.
Can you?
While pondering that, please contact your local/state and federal representatives and voice your support for health care reform.

Trust me my state rep is SO tired of hearing from me. lol I am reasonably sure my name is now on a blacklist floating around the office. ;)
ReplyDeleteI like you would welcome honest debate about the merits of the different types of health reform. I think many a good idea/compromise have come from debates. However, it takes two or more parties to come up with intelligent ideas to form a debate. Intelligent ideas from within the Republican party seem to be in short supply.
For the time being I wish President Obama would realize how much the American people want true health care reform and just push harder. He has taken the safe route on so many topics at this point (DOMA, DADT, anyone?) that if he was ever planning on really brute-force pushing something through now is the time.
Joe hates living with me. I rant often and loudly.
:) G
Thank you Gia!
ReplyDelete"now is the time". How true.
Please RANT. I hate to do it alone!
All of us need to stand up and be heard. All of us who are Americans too, and not affiliated with any group. I'd like to think of it as the "Silent Majority of Militant Agnostics". If we could just unite because we outnumber most any religious/political or other acitivist group.
I am completely & totally adamant that we should not be in the health care for profit business. It sorta contradicts what the good book says. There are some things that should not be included in the capitalism that infects our democracy.
Close your ears for another RANT!;
GREED, THE LOVE OF MONEY AND MORE GREED AND MORE MONEY HAVE DONE MORE DAMAGE TO MY WAY OF LIFE THAN ANY TWO MARRIED MEN EVER WILL!!
What next, we put Police and Fire up for private bidding??? Sorry, there are things in this democracy that we should not privatize. Many Americans have this irrational fear of socialism, eventhough we are surrounded by it on a daily basis. They no not of what they speak. To Prove it, just ask them to define the term when they use it.
There are ways around your representatives too;

We have donated to the cause trying to apply pressure from any avenue available. Thank GOD our congressional rep is on the same page as I am; Jay Inslee.
I totally concur regarding Obama being forceful. We elected him to take this kind of stuff on, head on. He won the popular vote by over 8 million. Bush wins with 3 million and calls it a mandate, then proceeds to bankrupt his capital. The leader of the moralites, until many of them couldn't live up to their own family values and were soundly beaten in the last two elections. Yet, here's a real family value and they won't recognize it because of their money values. They've nearly bankrupted our way of life and I want Obama to be on the attack because the Republicans always are.
Republicans don't care about health care as much as they want to defeat Obama, any way they can. I would much rather see an alternate plan if they are so hot and bothered. But it's not healthcare they want to defeat, it's Obama. I watched them do it to Bill Clinton and I wish he'd have hit back harder.
What a complete mess the Bush Administration and the Republican Congress left America in by the time they exited. Seriously, I have never lived in a America like this. I voted for Obama to make big changes. Republicans offer more of the same stuff in a big bag of fertilizer to be spread as they see fit.
The US is the only country in the world where it's citizens declare bankruptcy over medical expenses. I have noticed many more homeless these days as I come and go to work. One in particular sticks out in my mind and pains my soul;
A very scruffy man approached me late one night as I was walking to work and introduced himself as Matt. He pointed to his family sitting on the curb and begged for anything that I could give him. He said he lost his job after getting hurt about a year previous, lost his house because of the medical bills. He used to work in constuction but can't anymore. It breaks my heart. That could easily be me and my family.
What would Jesus do?
How about Matt?
How about Matthew 6:24?
"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."
What is it folks? God says one or the other. NOT both. He knows the difference even when we don't.
I wish that America was truly a Christian nation. Then perhaps we would finally play the part of the good samaritan and do the right thing.
